Associations and Networks

Nisbet is an active participant in a number of sector associations and networks. We believe that we are stronger when we work together with other health care providers.

Advantage Ontario

Advantage Ontario lobbies government on behalf of not for profit long-term are homes, housing providers and home support agencies. It also provides educational opportunities, help with policies and with professional certification for administrators.

East Toronto Health Team

The provincial government has introduced a new model of health care called Ontario Health Teams. The goal is to “end hallway medicine and build a connected and sustainable health care system centered around the needs of patients.” Nisbet Lodge is part of the East Toronto Health Partners, which intends to “create a local health care system that provides coordinated care for patients, reduces wait times and leads to better health outcomes for the population.”

Educational Institutions

Almost from its inception Nisbet has provided placement and work opportunities for students. We believe that such experiences are mutually beneficial. They provide students with work experience and for staff a chance to pass along their expertise.

We take placement students in various disciplines from activation to personal support workers and registered nurses to food service workers. In addition, we offer co-op experiences from local high schools. Thanks to the federal government’s Summer Career Placement Program we provide summer employment to the children of our employees and others.

Faith Partners

Nisbet as a faith based organization relies on our founding congregation, Calvary Church, our Chaplain but also other local churches and volunteers to meet the spiritual needs of those who call 730 and 740 Pape home. A sample of these include: Holy Name Church, St. Barnabas Anglican Church, and St. Irene Chrysovalantou Greek Orthodox Church.
